Section 3.4: Working with Events
Events are the mechanism through which Actions are automatically executed in TouchTerm, allowing for a high degree of configurability and automation for frequently performed tasks.
TouchTerm Pro triggers Events in response to various application and user interaction situations. The most important of these Events are Gestures, which can be used to automatically trigger Actions in response to interaction with the multi-touch display.
In addition to Gestures, TouchTerm also provides a number of connection and application Events.

Event Groups
Events are organized into groups as follows:
- Gesture: multi-touch Gestures
- Text: Events that are triggered when text strings are matched in the Terminal display output, or typed as input.
- Connection: events for when a connection is opened or a session is disconnected.
- Application: application-level events, for example for deactivation (when, e.g., receiving an incoming call) or app termination.
See the Reference Guide or use the Integrated Help for more detailed information on particular Actions.
| Configuring Event Mappings | (Back to Top) |
To set up a new Event Mapping, or view/edit an existing Mapping, first select the Event Type from the Settings menu, in the "Events" section.
Many events, including Gestures, require the selection of a "subtype" in order to be configured. For example, here's the screen for the Tap event, when using the default Profile settings:

Event Subtypes for the Tap Event
This screen only shows the list of currently configured Event subtypes; if no Actions are bound to a subtype, it will not be listed. To view or edit the Actions that are configured for an Event subtype, tap the corresponding row to bring up the corresponding Action Editor, which allows you to configure the Actions associated with this Event.
To add a new subtype to the list, use the Add ("+") button in the upper-right corner, then select an unconfigured subtype and tap "Done". This will bring up the Action Editor for the newly selected subtype.
If you wish to delete a subtype from the list, and therefore remove any associated Action mappings, swipe the corresponding entry in the list and confirm the deletion.
Note that the Text Events allow an unlimited number of subtypes, based on the possible strings that can be chosen for matching. And then some Events (such as the Connection Established event), do not have any subtypes.
