Section 3.6: Custom Keypads
The Standard Keypads | Managing Keypads | Configuring Keypad Actions | Using Keypads
TouchTerm Pro includes the ability to create and use an arbitrary number of custom Keypads, which can be used in addition to (or instead of) Gestures for triggering automatic Actions.
Keypads include the ability to customize the Actions performed by each of the Key buttons, as well as the label that is displayed on the Key.
| The Standard Keypads | (Back to Top) |
By default, TouchTerm provides three standard Keypads: the Arrow Keys, Function Number (F1-F12) keys, and "Commonly Used" Keys such as Control, Alt, and Esc.

In the Default Profile, the visibility of these standard Keypads can be toggled using Tap Gestures on the Left Edge of the Terminal display.
| Managing Keypads | (Back to Top) |
From the Settings screen, select "Keypads" to bring up the Keypad Manager screen:

The Keypad Manager
This displays the list of available Keypads. To create a new Keypad, use the Add ("+") button in the upper-right corner of the screen. This brings up the New Keypad screen:

Creating a New Keypad
Provide a name for your new Keypad, and then select a "type" for your Keypad. TouchTerm currently supports three Keypad Types: Directional (like the standard Arrow keys, with four keys), Six Keys, and Twelve Keys.
To remove a Keypad, swipe the corresponding entry in the list and confirm the deletion.
| Configuring Keypad Actions | (Back to Top) |
From the Keypad Manager, tap on the entry for a Keypad in order to bring up the Key Selction screen.

Selecting a Keypad Key to Edit
Select the Key that you wish to view or edit from this list. This will bring up the Action Editor for the Key, which will allow you to configure the label to displayed on the Key, as well as the Action(s) that will be performed when the Key is tapped.
| Using Keypads | (Back to Top) |
Keypads can be used from the Terminal display. When a Keypad is displayed, it is overlaid above the Terminal display. Multiple Keypads can be displayed at any given time, although the maximum number depends on whether you are using the Terminal display in portrait or landscape mode. If the maximum number of visible Keypads is exceeded, the Keypad that has been visible the longest is automatically hidden as the new one is displayed.
Note that Keypads can optionally be displayed with a degree of transparency, similar to the standard device keyboard and the Settings button. This transparency level is controlled by the Interface Transparency option.
Keypads can be displayed or hidden using the Keypad Actions:

Keypad Actions
Use the Show Keypad action to ensure that a Keypad is displayed, and the Hide Keypad action to ensure that a Keypad is hidden. The Toggle Keypad action can be used to toggle the visibility of a Keypad. Finally, use the Hide All Keypads action to hide all visible Keypads.
