The TouchTerm Forum
is now available! We'll be using these forums to discuss the
future of TT and TT Pro. We invite you to participate!
This page is a more "official" announcement of features that
are in-development and planned for upcoming and future update
releases of both TT and TT Pro.
Use the "Discuss" links to access the relevant area of the
TouchTerm Forums, to contribute your thoughts or
implementation ideas, or to "vote" for features you'd most
like to see. If there's no discussion link available, please
feel free to create a new thread on forum!
The features in the first two sections ("Next Release" and
"Coming Soon") will almost certainly be in one of the next few
updates. The last section, "Future Plans", is more
speculative; if you'd like to see these added, or if you other
ideas of new features you'd like to see added to TT or TT Pro,
we strongly encourage you to use the forums to voice your
opinion! We take user feedback very seriously: it's the main
factor that drives what goes into our update releases.

Application Lock
TouchTerm can now be set up to require a master password
on startup.
|
 |
 |
 |
Connection Diagnostics
Verbose logging (and e-mail of full log) available to
help diagnose failed connections.
|
 |
 |
|
New Fonts
Added two new fonts, as well as improved drawing speed
when using international characters.
|
 |
 |
 |
Private Key Export
Ability to export private authentication keys.
|
 |
 |
 |
Configuration Import/Export
Import / Export of Configuration Profiles, Saved
Connections, and custom Keypads. Using this you can now
easily share advanced TT Pro configuration, backup your
TT Pro configuration settings, and manually edit
advanced settings.

Audible BEL
Audio, visual, and/or vibration feedback for the BEL
(\007) character.

Password Manager
Similar to "Keychain" on the Mac, this would provide a
secure way to manage passwords for connections and other
remote accounts. We're still open to ideas on how this
should work, and also we'd like to know whether there's
much call for this (especially since this can more or
less be accomplished within the current TT Pro
interface, using for example custom Keypads).

 |
|
XTerm Emulation
Xterm emulation support will provide greater
compatibility with screen-based programs. This will also
include the ability to change the screen size (from the
standars 80x24 columns), and full xterm-color support.

 |
 |
 |
Sub-pixel Fonts
We're currently working on adding sub-pixel font
support. This would be limited to white-on-black text
only, and would only really work for 7-bit ASCII
characters; but this would be sufficient for a large
number of users, so we think it's still worthwhile.

Telnet / Raw TCP support
We get occasional requests for this; we'd like to try to
understand the actual demand for telnet usage before
spending time on this feature. Please vote if you're
interested in seeing this added!

|
Accelerometer Gestures
Any interest in adding Accelerometer-based gestures? We
could use shakes, tilts, and possibly even "swirls",
"tosses" -- who knows? :) Any requests or suggestions
for useful accelerometer gestures are much appreciated;
it's hard to tell if this would be genuinely useful, or
more just a fun gimmick, but not so useful.

|
 |
 |
Authentication Forwarding
Authentication forwarding (ssh-agent) support. This is
still slated as a "Future Plan" since there are a lot of
implementation details yet to figure out.
|
|
 |
 |
Database Encryption
The current Application Lock is effective protection
against accessing passwords in TT under normal
circumstances; but if your phone is lost or stolen, it
would be possible to "jailbreak" and access the files
and passwords. To prevent against this, we could encrypt
the TT Pro configuration database, or at least
password-related information. This is a fair bit of
work, so we'd like to gauge interest before spending a
lot of time on it.

Help / Learning / Integrated Tutorials
TT Pro is a complex app: we currently have an extensive
User Guide, as well as the "tour" videos and Integrated
Help to assist with the learning process. But we're also
exploring other resources and options for making the
learning process quicker and more efficient.
|
|
 |
 |
Integrated Web View
For web-based administration, we've had a few requests
to include an integrated web view: so you could load a
particular URL/site, and check any changes, without
having to leave the TouchTerm application. It's a
relatively big project, so we'd like to gauge interest
more before adding it: please vote if you're interested
in seeing this!

|
 |
 |
Local Text File Editing
This would provide the ability to select a text file and
bring it up in a "local" text editor on the iphone
(e.g., a text field similar to how Mail works). After
changes are made, the changes would be sent back to the
server. There are still lots of details here that would
need to be figured out; see the forum discussion for
more info.

|
 |
 |
More Touch Gestures
There are lots of possibilities here: circles, X's, even
more complicated letter-like shapes; two-finger
rotations, double-slides, pinches; and 3+ fingers
also. With these possibilities and combinations, 100s of
mappable gestures are possible: mostly it's a question
of whether it's useful to have so many more options.
|
|
 |
 |
SCP/SFTP support
This would allow you to use the TT Pro filesystem as a
file storage and transfer device, easily transferring
files to and from your servers.
|
|
 |
|
Search Terminal Window
This would provide an interface for searching for words
in the Terminal output. It's not technically too hard to
implement, mostly we'd like to see if there's much
interest in it!
